Fortis vs. Georgetown Elite: which Vytex window is right for you?
Two of Vytex’s most popular double-hung series, built in the same Laurel, MD factory from the same vinyl compound, but engineered for different budgets. This side-by-side guide breaks down what’s shared, what’s different, and when each one makes the most sense.
The short answer
Vytex Fortis →
The all-rounder most of our customers land on. Enhanced frame engineering, upgraded glass options, and slim European-contoured cove sightlines give it a measurable step up in performance and curb appeal.
Best for: homeowners who want the strongest balance of performance, aesthetics and value.
Vytex Georgetown Elite →
The budget-friendly choice that doesn’t cut corners on the fundamentals. Same welded vinyl, same Low-E insulated glass, same tilt-in cleaning, in a leaner package that keeps whole-house projects affordable.
Best for: homeowners replacing many windows at once or working within a tighter budget.
What they have in common
Both series are manufactured by Vytex in Laurel, Maryland and share the same core vinyl platform. The fundamentals are identical:
Fusion-welded vinyl
Sash and frame corners are heat-welded, not screwed: stronger joints, no water infiltration.
Low-E insulated glass
Double-pane insulated glass with a Low-E coating that reflects heat and blocks UV. Standard on both.
Tilt-in sashes
Both sashes tilt inward so you can clean the outside glass from inside the room. No ladders needed.
Triple weatherstripping
Three layers of weatherstripping on the sash for a tight seal against drafts, dust and noise.
Multi-chamber frames
Internal chambers in the frame add rigidity and insulating dead-air space.
Lifetime limited warranty
Vytex backs both series with a lifetime limited manufacturer warranty on vinyl and sealed units.
Where they differ
The differences come down to frame engineering, glass upgrade options, and sightline profile. Refinements that add performance and polish at a higher price point.
